Crown Over Natural Tooth
This dental treatment is performed when a natural tooth has suffered extensive damage due to cavities, fractures, or previous dental restorations, and requires a more comprehensive and durable dental restoration. The procedure involves an endodontic treatment or root canal to remove the nerve and pulp of the tooth, followed by the placement of a post or core for added strength and stability. Finally, a zirconia crown is installed, providing a durable and aesthetically pleasing restoration that closely resembles a natural tooth.
The zirconia crown is made of a highly resistant and aesthetic ceramic material and is carefully adjusted for a precise fit and natural appearance. This biocompatible material is safe for oral tissues and does not cause allergic reactions or irritation. Overall, this dental treatment helps restore the health and appearance of a damaged or weakened tooth, providing a durable and aesthetically pleasing solution.
Appointments description
This comprehensive dental treatment involves a series of appointments aimed at restoring a damaged tooth or one that has undergone endodontic treatment. The following is a chronological outline of the procedure.
Appointment 1:
General Assessment with the Dentist
During the initial appointment, a thorough assessment of the tooth's condition will be conducted by the dentist. This will determine the need for a natural tooth root crown. Additionally, a panoramic X-ray will be taken to obtain a comprehensive image of the tooth and surrounding structures.
Appointment 2:
Endodontic Procedure
If the tooth is diagnosed with an infection or inflammation in the dental pulp, an endodontic treatment will be performed to remove the infected pulp and save the remaining tooth structure.
Appointment 3:
Core Pattern Fabrication
After the endodontic treatment, an impression of the prepared tooth will be taken to fabricate the core pattern or post that will serve as the foundation for the crown.
1-Day Healing Period
There will be another observation period of approximately 1 day for recovery and healing before moving on to the next stage.
Appointment 4:
Placement of Post or Core
The
post or core will be placed in the prepared tooth to provide a solid
foundation for the crown. An impression will also be taken to design the
zirconia crown.
1-Day Crown Fabrication Period
The
impression will be sent to our dental laboratory for the fabrication of
the zirconia crown, which may take approximately 1 day.
Appointment 5:
Crown Placement
During this appointment, the Zirconia crown, which is made of high-quality dental material, will be placed on the previously prepared tooth. The dentist will meticulously assess the adaptation, color, and shape of the crown to ensure a precise fit and optimal aesthetic outcome. Once deemed satisfactory, the crown will be permanently bonded in place.
Appointment 6:
Post-treatment Follow-up
The dentist will evaluate the treatment outcome, check the integration of the crown, and address any concerns or necessary adjustments to ensure patient comfort and satisfaction.
It is recommended to follow the detailed appointment plan above to ensure a successful procedure. The patient should closely follow the dentist's instructions and adhere to the scheduled breaks and adjustments to achieve the best results.
